A NEW BOOK IS BORN
My new book, THE GOBBLE GOBBLE MOO TRACTOR BOOK, was published in March.
A sheep climbs up onto the seat of an old disused tractor on a farm. He turns an imaginary key and, mimicking the sound of the engine starting up, says BA-AA-AA-AA. Overhearing this a cat asks if he can ‘come for a ride’ on the tractor too, but what sound can he make? The purring noise of the engine when it is idling of course! Other animals soon want to join in, each adding their own sound effects to the imaginary ride. Farmer Dougal is asleep in the farm house and they mustn’t wake him up with their noisy game, but it’s so much fun, how can they resist playing?

Victoria Beckham and her son Brooklyn visited a school in Kentucky recently and read out what was described as ‘one of their favourite stories’ - DUCK IN THE TRUCK. Click here to see the pictures and read all about it (you will leave this site).
If you have an iPhone Duck is now appearing as an application. Each app will feature moving images, integrated sound effects and read-along audio from Matt Lucas and Harry Enfield. I’m proud of the fact that this is the first time a phone application has featured a children’s book series like Duck. The first app, Duck in the Truck, launches on March 5th followed by Captain Duck on April 8th and Fix it Duck on May 10th.
Children seem to love playing with the screens and photos on iPhones so it seems an obvious step to put apps on their which they can really use and enjoy. I had a chance to try out the Duck in the Truck app recently and I thought it was fantastic, hope you do too.
Do you have a list in your head of things you’ve always wanted to do in your life, dreams that for one reason or another, you never got round to fulfilling? One of these for me was to be in a band. I’ve always loved music and have played the guitar since I was a teenager, mostly on my own or along to favourite CDs. Around a year and a half ago my brother (who plays drums) and I decided to see if we could make this dream a reality.
After many auditions and false starts our four-piece blues band has finally come into being. We’re called THE JACKALS and we’ve started gigging in southeast England, where we are based.
