I used to play in a Blues band; one night before a gigs I came down with a really heavy flu. I was feeling so rough with high temperature, aching limbs etc. that I didn’t know how I was going to get through the performance.

Within minutes of plugging in my Telecaster and pumping out the riffs and rhythms of the classic songs in our setlist I’d forgotten all about my symptoms: Doctor Blues had medicated me with his powerful medicine. The effects soon wore off after the last song but it gave me a good a song about the music that I love.

Here are the lyrics:

From the groove in the vinyl on the air to distant towns,
