Western society seems to finally be waking up to the fact that repressing feelings is not a healthy thing to do. This song addresses this positive change.
Here are the lyrics:
The world out there can be so cruel,
Crush an open-hearted fool,
When bitter words of hate are spoken,
Love withdrawn; a promise broken.
All the hurt we try to hide,
Gets locked away deep down inside.
Let it out – the no you didn’t dare to shout.
Let it go – the tears that weren’t allowed to flow.
Let it be – set the feeling free.
Through the years a shell has grown,
You cling on to the life that’s known,
Don’t look back that’s what they say,
Look forward, it’s the only way.
But now it’s catching up with you,
There’s only one thing you can do.
Let it out – the no you didn’t dare to shout.
Let it show – the shadow of the past can go.
Let it be – set the feeling free.
No one there, too much for one so young to bear,
Too much to feel, pretended that it wasn’t real.
And on that day, your tender life just lost its way,
But now that time is in the past, and you can let it go at last.
Then you’ll finally see, what your life is meant to be.
Now there is a hand to hold,
Your story can at last be told
When there is a listening ear,
You can go beyond your fear.
Don’t leave your petals all unfurled,
Your colours hidden from the world.
Let it out – the no you didn’t dare to shout.
Let it show – the shadow of the past can go.
Let it be – set the feeling free.
