My Music
The Right Time

I wrote this song after I auditioned for a band as their guitarist. When I got the job someone asked me how I felt about it and I heard myself saying:

‘It’s the right time, and I’m ready.’

This sounded like a hook line to me. In this song I tried to capture that feeling which that line encapsulates.

Here are the lyrics:

I ain’t a company man, but that’s where I work,
I don’t make much moolah and the boss is a jerk.
This nine to five ain’t what this guy was put here to do,
I’m gonna walk right out and find something new.

‘Cos it’s the right time, and I’m ready,
Feet on the ground and I’m rock steady.
It’s the right time, and I’m ready,
Feet on the ground and I’m rock steady.
How it’s gonna be, I just don’t know
But it’s the right time and I’m ready to go.

Oh well I ain’t too tall but still my house feels small,
It’s leaking and its creaking and there’s cracks along the wall.
Sometimes I hear it speaking - tell me what I’ve got to do:
‘You got to pack your bags and start shifting too.’

Everybody’s looking for a heart that is true,
I finally realised I won’t be finding it with you.
The tank is full of gas, I’m itching to drive -
You’ve got to keep on moving just to stay alive.
