After many days of final touches the inside artwork is finished – all that's left to complete is the cover illustration. The cover process is made easier by the fact that this is the third book in a series and so a lot of the design decisions were made when we created the first book Nat the Cat's Sunny Smile. For example, I know it will appear on a flat colour, I know what typeface we are using and where it will go, I know there is a 'read the book, sing the song' logo to be placed somewhere. After much trial and error I have come up with this as the final design: once okayed by the publisher I can start the final painting for the book, which oddly is the very first thing that you see of it.
